Courtesy: cricket.comIndia suffered a crushing three-day defeat by 113 runs in the second Test in Pune on Saturday, as New Zealand became the first touring side to secure a Test series win in India in 13 years. This historic victory also marked New Zealand’s first-ever series triumph on Indian soil. It came on the back of their 38-year wait to register a single Test win in India, achieved in the series opener.
Chasing a target of 359, India was bowled out for 255, with a late resistance led by Ravindra Jadeja. Coming in at number nine, Jadeja scored a fighting 42, reviving India from a precarious 167-7. However, the day belonged to New Zealand’s left-arm spinner Mitchell Santner, who picked up six wickets in the second innings, raising his match tally to 13.
Jadeja’s dismissal as the final wicket, caught while trying to continue his aggressive approach, ended India’s pursuit of the challenging target. His valiant effort proved insufficient against the relentless Kiwi attack, sealing a memorable series win for New Zealand.
