KYIV, Ukraine — A Ukrainian drone struck a key weapons depot within Russia, the Ukrainian military reported Wednesday. The attack occurred three weeks after a previous drone strike hit a major Russian armory and just three days after another drone targeted a vital oil terminal in Russian-controlled Crimea.
The strike on Tuesday night aimed at a stockpile in Russia’s Bryansk region near the border, where missiles and artillery ammunition were stored, including some reportedly provided by North Korea, according to a statement from Ukraine’s General Staff.
The depot, located 115 kilometers (70 miles) from the Ukrainian border, also contained powerful glide bombs that have been used to devastate Ukrainian civilian areas and military defenses. Some of the ammunition was said to be kept outdoors.
“Attacking such storage facilities poses significant logistical issues for the Russian military, considerably diminishing their offensive capacity,” the statement noted.
