Ukraine has decided not to proceed with a second peace conference aimed at resolving the conflict with Russia, a senior aide to President Vladimir Zelensky confirmed. The meeting had initially been planned for November.
Zelensky previously hosted a ‘peace summit’ in June at the Swiss resort of Luzerne, hoping to gather international support for his proposed ‘peace formula,’ a ten-point plan that Russia dismissed as unrealistic. The summit, which excluded Russia, was widely regarded as unsuccessful.
“The Second Peace Summit will not be held in November,” senior presidential aide Darya Zarivna announced on Tuesday.
Despite this, Zarivna stated that efforts are ongoing to prepare for a future summit, with “thematic conferences” focused on each point of Zelensky’s plan. The final conference, addressing humanitarian issues, is expected to take place in Canada at the end of October, she added.
